You never really know where love will find you.

Sometimes it happens close to home. Sometimes thousands of kilometres away. And sometimes, somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

This is where the story of Petya and Felipe began.

She is from Sliven, Bulgaria. He is from Brazil. Two people from different parts of the world whose paths crossed aboard a ship, far away from everything they once called home.

Somewhere among the endless waters of the Pacific, a simple meeting slowly became something much bigger.

Today, they have built their life together in Cyprus and share it with their little daughter, Sophie.

And this summer, their story brought them back to Bulgaria for their wedding at Secret Garden in Sliven.

From Bulgaria and Brazil to a Life Together in Cyprus

Perhaps one of the most beautiful things about love is that it rarely follows the route we imagine for ourselves.

And yet, one meeting was enough to change the direction of both.

What began aboard a ship in the Pacific Ocean continued far beyond that journey. Petya and Felipe eventually made Cyprus their home, started a family and welcomed their daughter Sophie into their story.

Their wedding in Bulgaria was not simply the celebration of a single day.

For me, it was a celebration of everything that had happened before it – the distances crossed, the choices made and the life they had already created together.

A Wedding at Secret Garden, Sliven

For their wedding day, Petya and Felipe chose Secret Garden in Sliven – a beautiful place surrounded by greenery and away from the noise of the city.

But a beautiful wedding venue is only the setting.

What makes every wedding different are the people and the story that brought them together.

Family and friends gathered in Bulgaria to celebrate two people whose journey had crossed countries and an entire ocean before bringing everyone together in one place.

And in the middle of it all was Sophie – a little reminder that their wedding was not the beginning of their family story, but another beautiful chapter of one that had already begun.

As a wedding photographer, these are exactly the stories I love to document. Not only how a wedding looked, but the relationships, emotions and small moments that explain why the day mattered.

Their Wedding Day

I have always believed that the strongest wedding photographs happen when people are allowed to simply be themselves.

So throughout Petya and Felipe’s wedding day, my goal was not to turn every moment into a perfectly arranged photograph.

I wanted to preserve what was already happening.

The looks between them. The laughter. Their families. Their friends. Sophie. The small gestures that appear for only a second and disappear just as quickly.

These are often the moments that become most valuable years later.

Not because everything in the photograph is perfect, but because everything in it is real.

A Wedding Story Between Different Worlds

There was something especially beautiful about seeing so many different parts of Petya and Felipe’s life come together in one place.

Bulgaria and Brazil.

The life they have created in Cyprus.

Friends and family travelling to celebrate with them.

And a love story that began somewhere thousands of kilometres away in the Pacific Ocean.

A wedding like this is a reminder that a wedding day is never just about one date.

It is the result of everything that happened before it.

Every journey.

Every decision.

Every place that became home.

And every person who became part of the story.

Back to the Sea

There was one more chapter of their story I wanted to photograph.

The sea.

Some time after the wedding, Petya and Felipe stood together in front of my camera again – this time on the beach.

And somehow, it felt like the perfect place to continue their story.

Their love had begun surrounded by the enormous waters of the Pacific Ocean. Years later, after building a home together and becoming parents, we returned to the water to create another memory.

There was no wedding-day schedule anymore. No guests waiting. No ceremony about to begin.

Just the two of them, the sound of the waves and time to simply be together.

Without the rhythm and excitement of the wedding day, something different appeared in front of the camera.

The way they looked at each other.

The way they moved together.

The quiet moments between the photographs.

And perhaps that is why this session revealed something different.

Not simply a bride and groom.

But Petya and Felipe.

Two people whose love once began somewhere among the great waters of the Pacific and who, years later, found themselves standing together beside the sea again.

You Never Know Where Love Will Find You

From Bulgaria and Brazil to a ship somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.

From the Pacific to Cyprus.

From Cyprus back to Bulgaria for their wedding.

And finally, back to the sea.

Petya and Felipe’s story is a beautiful reminder that love does not care much about borders, distance or the plans we have made for ourselves.

Sometimes two people simply have to be in exactly the right place at exactly the right moment.

Even if that place happens to be somewhere in the middle of an ocean.
